Good afternoon! In Russia, the magazine "Sammlung-Collection" https://sammlung.ru/?p=18563 published an article with documents about Corporal (Sergeant) William Smith, who organized the rescue of Lord Sempill near Loos. If possible, please provide information about the source of his photograph. He is not mentioned in the History of the Regiment as one of the recipients of the 1916 French Cross.
