There's a Stanley connection with SS Canberra. In 1968 Davy O'Brien sailed from Australia to Canada in her and in 1982 Gordon Howie sailed to the Falkland Islands with the Royal Marines as part of the task force in Operation Corporate to re-take the Islands occupied illegally by Argentine forces on 2nd April 1982.
